Summer Beauty Trends for 2014

Summer Beauty Trends for 2014Don’t you just love how the seasons change? Especially when it brings you closer and closer to being summer time!

As far as seasons go, Fall is definitely my fave, but Summer is a close second. Spring can suck it because it’s too drizzly and damp and that is NEVER good for my hair.

Over the years I have found some trends that always seem to recur during the hot summer months. Natural beachy curls are popular for hair trends, the au-natural face comes back and it makes sense. It’s too dang hot out to really vamp it up. While there are these reincarnated faves, that doesn’t mean there aren’t more new and noteworthy trends.

This year is a bit different than most because I’m living in Asia, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been keeping up on all those awesome summer beauty trends for 2014. Yes siree, I have been kept in the loop and now it’s time to dish my findings.

Summer Beauty Trends for 2014

Back to Basic Beauty

The biggest beauty trend reemerging this season is – drum roll please – raw beauty!

That’s right. That au natural, flawless face look is coming back with a vengeance. Are we even surprised? I’m sure not.

This year it’s a bit different though. We’re really stripping down the look to your raw essence, which means no mascara even.

Mascara is my go-to beauty product. I will go days, weeks even, without wearing an ounce of makeup except my coveted Kiko mascara.

The trick to nailing down this look is by using as few products as possible. The idea is conceal any minor facial flaws with concealer. Using a super pale shadow, sweep it over your eyes to hollow them out and give your eyes a natural definition. Don’t forget to forego that mascara.

Poker Straight Locks

You know how I mentioned beachy curls earlier? Well forget that because this season is all about poker straight locks.

Bouncy, blown out tresses are so last season. For summer you are going to want to grab that flat iron, anti-frizz spray and get ready to slick back your hair.

This straight as sin look goes perfectly with the raw beauty trend emerging.

To keep your hair from frizzing out, you can make your own anti-frizz spray to tame loose hairs. My favourite is easy to make, natural and just as effective as any $30 bottle of anti-frizz cream on the market.

So what do you need? Coconut oil.

Yep, that’s it. Just smooth a super small amount of coconut oil over your tresses and stray flyaways will be tamed immediately. It also nourishes your hair and gives it a nice sheen.

To give your hair an even better fighting chance at remaining straight in the summer, use this hair mask weekly.

Mix together 1 ripe avocado, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of honey. Run it through your hair and let it soak it in for at least 30 minutes. The healthy fats from the avocado and oil will nourish and strengthen your hair, while the honey will lock in that hydration.

Supple straight hair. What a dream!

So there you have it. Two simple and outrageously natural trends for this summer. Will you get on board with these? Share in the comment section below.
