The other day, my ever so internet savvy BFF sent this Bite-Sized Beauty Tips series.
When I first read the title, I immediately assumed it was going to be a series of nonsense, with tips we’ve all heard a million times before. After all, creativity and new material is hard to come by these days.
While some of the tips were ones I’ve seen before, there were a few that really impressed. What hooked me even more, was that each tip set is based on a different theme. This week’s theme: Beauty Tips That Won’t Break The Bank.
What Is Bite-Sized Beauty Tips?
You’re probably wondering what the heck I”m talking about, so before I get into their terrific tips, a little on this series.
These beauty nuggets come from the writers over at SkinBase, the makers of a microdermabrasion facial. It all started when one of their bloggers wrote a short post on a few tips that wouldn’t break the bank.
As you can imagine, people went nuts over this. After all, who doesn’t love pinching a few pennies – errr, should I say nickels since the penny is out now?
This simple idea transformed into a pretty little series with an infographic-style feel, but with a more DIY, home remedy spin.
SkinBase blogger Amy came up with 8 savvy tips to save the bank. A few of these tips I have already written about, such as makeup tips for perfecting the cat eye, but 3 in particular really stood out to me.
1. Custom Colour
Do you find it a big pain in the tushy bottom, to buy different concealers depending on the season? I mean, even for a relatively non-tanner like myself, I notice a major difference between my skin shade in the summer and in the winter.
This awesome tip suggests adding a dab of bronzer to your regular makeup foundation. Regular use will keep your skin glowing long after the summer months have passe and keep you from blowing cash on so many different concealer shades.
2. Red Hair Rinse
First of all, I would like to start by saying I wish I were a redhead. I feel like it would have suited me and my sass is sooooo redhead worthy.
Secondly, this tip sounds pretty sweet. What you do is pour cranberry juice on your locks and let it soak in for up to 5 minutes. This home remedy works twofold; it keeps your red hair vibrant, but for other hair colours, it adds extra sheen.
I can totally see how this works for red hair, but be wary if you are blonde as you may temporarily paint your tresses pink.
3. Create New Lip Colour
This tip would be perfect for my little sister Cait because she is hooked on lipstick and any other lip-related products. Having found her massive stash of half-used lip shades, this tip would come in handy.
Basically, this tip takes old shades and gives you the opportunity to build your own shade. Take a few shades you dig, pop them in the microwave and melt them down. Mix your colors together to create a new shade and pour them into a tin. Once they’ve hardened you have a 100% unique shade. Slap some advertising on it and baby, you could sell that sh*t.
If you’re looking so conserve some coin, be sure to check out the rest of these bite-sized beauty tips.
