5 Spring Makeup Trends for 2014Ohhh snap. Spring is officially only 3 and a half weeks away!

Having grown up in one of the coldest regions of Ontario, Canada, I can totally empathize with what you’re goin through right now. It’s cold, windy, your hair is getting frizzy, your skin is dry and how the hell do you expect to keep your makeup in place with so many scarfs, hats, hoodies and jackets coming in contact with them? Ladies, I know it may seem far away, but I promise; Spring is right around the corner. With all that being said, it’s time to talk makeup trends for 2014. With the Spring Equinox rolling around on March 20, you’ll want to be well prepared!

5 Spring Makeup Trends for 2014

There are so many great makeup trends ready to blossom this Spring. If you were thinking pale pinks and shimmery eyes, you better prepare yourself for something a little bolder. Let’s dive into it!

Bright Orange Lip Color

Now, I’ve been a fan of this trend for ages now, but sadly, I don’t have the confidence to pull off such a vibrant shade. While Spring is often full of pales and pastels, this upcoming makeup trend will really give you an edge. Why be a wallflower, when you can be the center of attention?

One of the best things about this bright orange lip shade is that it is flattering on nearly every skin tone. Shades like Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Carnival is a fan favourite. Keep your eyes peeled for  Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Mischeivious which comes out later this season and looks to be another great shade!

Blue Eye Shadow

You’ll have to forgive me, but I used to loathe this colour of eye shadow. I think it had something to do with how my tweeny bopper friends were wearing it in the 90′s; overdone and with disregard.

This coming season, a statement shade like blue is all the rage. Pat it onto your lids and create a crescent shape slightly above the creases. Make sure to wipe away any residual powder that may have fallen below your lower lash line.

Go Au Naturale

A lot of people tend to lead away from the the au naturale look because they don’t like how their naked skin looks. Figuring out how to look good without makeup is an art, but so is making it look like you’re wearing none, when you actually are.

Prime and moisturize your skin before applying little dabs on concealer to hide any imperfections. Finish it off with a barely-there neutral blush on the apples of your cheeks.

It’s simple and naturally beautiful.

Gorgeously Glowing Skin

There’s just something about a subtle glow that gives your skin an ethereal appearance. If you want to mimic this effect, use a tinted moisturizer all over your face then apply illuminating highlighter to your cheeks, bridge of your nose and forehead.

Doesn’t get much easier than that, now does it!

Penciled Lids

Not for the faint of heart, penciled lids is one of  the boldest spring makeup trends for 2014.

Graphic triangles, exaggerated cat eyes and inner-eye detailing are just a few ways you can try out this trend.

So now I want to hear from you. What are some of your favourite upcoming makeup trends? Are there any you’d like to try, but feel a little shy about? Hit me up in the comment section below!
