I love this time of year. Getting dressed up in costume and having it actually be acceptable is a phenomenal concept to me. Over the past few years I’ve retired my super-skank attire and opted to embellish my costume with bad ass makeup instead.
Turns out dressing as a french maid hussy is not as cool in your late 20’s as it was when you were actually 20.
In the spirit of All Hallow’s Eve, I’m going to share 3 fun and easy Halloween makeup tutorials with you. From vamp to tramp and even themed, there’s a little something for everyone.
The Sassy Spider Web
There’s something so fun about really giving your makeup a theme. This particular tutorial will have you needing the following:
- Fake Eyelashes
- Eyelash Glue
- Black Eyeliner Pencil
- Black Mascara
- 5 or 6 Rhinestones
Step 1 – Take your eyeliner pencil and draw 1.5 inch lines starting at your lash line. Do this from inner eye to outer and even below.
Step 2 – Once your initial lines are drawn, connect them by horizontal swoops. Think of how you would draw a spider web on paper and recreate this.
Step 3 – Line your lashes with a thick layer of eyeliner, then apply your false lashes. Finish this off with a nice layer of mascara.
Step 4 – The final step is to use your eyelash glue to stick a rhinestone or two around each web. The finished look is sassy and simple.
The Frisky Feline Eye
Perhaps you want to really vamp it up this Halloween season. Instead of going crazy with elaborate makeup, really play up the cat-eye effect and pair it with a stunning outfit. You’ll feel like a vixen and look like one.
To get the perfect Halloween-worthy cat eye you will need:
- Black Gel Eyeliner
- Eyeliner Brush
- Blue/Black Eye Shadow
- Eye Shadow Brush
- Black Mascara
Step 1 – Start by using your gel eyeliner and drawing on the cat-eye shape. You want to sweep the eyeliner from inner lash all the way over your eyelid and finish with the embellished wing. Fill in the entire area with your black gel eyeliner.
If you need to correct the shape, use a Q-tip or a more pointed brush.
Step 2 – Using your brush, draw a pointed tip on the inside of your lash line and then carry it down and over your bottom lash line. Your entire eye area should be well defined by now. Connect your lower lash line with your winged tip.
Step 3 – Using your eye shadow brush, dip it in your blue/black shadow and apply it right over your darkened lid. This will give it a bolder effect. Whatever you do, don’t go outside the drawn in lines.
You can however, use the shadow to soften the outer lines so they don’t look severe. Do this on the lower lash line as well.
Step 4 – Apply a nice layer of mascara. This would be the time to add false lashes if you like. The look itself is pretty bold, but it’s Halloween, so knock your proverbial socks off!
If you have lighter eye brows, it might be wise to fill them in a bit. Nothing hectic; you don’t want to take away from the eye. And there you have it, a fabulous cat eye than can be accompanied by kitty ears or a body boasting outfit.

The Wonderful Winter Queen
The weather’s getting colder, so why not create a look that reflects that. This Winter Queen makeup tutorial will wow you. To recreate this look, you will need:
- Eyelid Primer
- White Eye Liner
- Black Gel Eye Liner
- Shimmery White Eye Shadow
- Peacok Blue Eye Shadow
- Royal Blue Eye Shadow
- Fluffy Brush
- Thin Brush
- False Eye Lashes
- Eye Lash Glue
Step 1 – Prime your eyelids to prevent creasing and fading of eye makeup.
Step 2 – Dab white eyeliner on your inner corner, around your tear ducts and on the outer third of your upper lash line. Top this off by sweeping over a layer of shimmery white eye shadow only on these 3 regions. Add a little extra around your tear ducts for a highlighted effect.
Step 3 – Using a fluffy brush and your blue shadow, sweep this over the centers of your lids only. Using the same color and a thinner brush, outline your crease. When you get to the outer portion, angle the blue shadow towards your lash line.
Step 4 – Using the same thin brush and your royal blue eye shadow, outline your blue areas.
Step 5 – Using your black eyeliner, line your upper and lower lash line to help define your eyes. Create a little winged tip on your upper lash line. Connect your lower lash line with your upper wing.
Step 6 – It’s time to apply a generous coat of mascara. Do not apply any mascara to the inner lashes though. You don’t want to take away from the white highlighting.
Step 7 – Apply some false lashes. Feel free to grab a pair of glittered falsies. They’ll go perfectly with your makeup theme.
Step 8 – The rest of your face should include a paler foundation, rosey cheeks and a bubblegum pink gloss. A platinum blonde week doesn’t hurt either.
And there you have it. Three fab Halloween makeup ideas to get you through this wickedly fun season. What are you dressing up as this year? Feel free to share your pics on our Facebook page!
